| Ed Nowicki is a nationally known law enforcement trainer, in addition to being founder and former executive director of the nation's largest law enforcement training association: the prestigious "American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers" (ASLET). A sworn police officer since 1968, Ed still works part time as a police officer for the Twins Lakes, Wisconsin Police Department. He began his law enforcement career with the Chicago Police Department in 1968 and has held the ranks of Patrolman, Detective, Lieutenant, and Chief of Police with four law enforcement agencies. Ed recently retired as a Police Training Specialist with Milwaukee Area Technical College. Ed has trained thousands of police officers across the nation and regularly conducts law enforcement training programs covering various uses of force topics at police agencies and police academies across the nation. The U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy have also used his services on numerous occasions to conduct training in Europe. During 1994 and 1999 he traveled to Great Britain and trained police constabulary instructors from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. A survivor of many lethal encounters, Nowicki has been judicially recognized and is nationally known as an expert on police training, standards and procedures, OC spray, self-defense and the use of force. He has received many awards for his contributions to law enforcement, law enforcement training, and is in national demand as a speaker and presenter. He has been a guest commentator on many national TV shows. Nowicki compiled and edited the highly acclaimed law enforcement training texts, Total Survival and Supervisory Survival. He is a widely published author, including the critically acclaimed, award winning book of police stories, True Blue (St. Martin's Press paperback). Ed also writes for many law enforcement publications and is on the advisory board for Police and The Police Marksman magazines. A former Municipal Judge, Ed holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts Degree in Management. He is the co-developer of the nationally known OCAT® (Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training) Program. In 1994, he received the "Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Training for Individual Achievement" by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. He also hosts the nationally syndicated talk radio show, "American Crime Line with Ed Nowicki," which is carried by 75 radio stations across the country.
